Job Description:
|
 Design Engineers are responsible for a wide variety of projects related to the development of a product line. Product design projects include research, testing and field trial evaluation of a new product. Another focus is reliability analysis, identification of design improvements and cost reduction of existing products. The design engineer will support our manufacturing plants, districts and customers as required. With experience, design engineers will often guide and coordinate the efforts of other Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Subject to the direction of the supervisor, has the responsibility and authority to:
- Make engineering cost estimates for development of new or redesigned products
- Make preliminary investigation and study of parameters and variables which affect design
- Establish functional relationships and determine influence of design variables on overall concept
- Make or direct making of layouts of possible designs and select one best suited to meet all specifications, codes and regulations
- Compile original design documents
- Create production drawings for manufacture of new tools and equipment to optimize manufacturing capabilities and interchangeability
- Set up standards and procedures for testing production models of equipment and direct their testing
- Utilize and supervise Test Lab Personnel to conduct tests
- Create test procedures to assure personnel safety
- Analyze results of laboratory tests and write reports of these results
- Observe actual field runs of experimental nature
- Analyze field performance of new equipment and recommend necessary changes
- Review engineering revision request
- Issue engineering revision notices
- Review Reports of Non-Conformance and determine the outcome
- Responsible for keeping abreast of and applying latest engineering techniques and manufacturing capabilities.
- Analyze and prepare written reports on equipment malfunctions or failures
- Assist sales with customer problems and requirements
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
Desired Skills:
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Must have BS or MS Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Must be a self-starter and require little supervision
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Knowledge of machine design/ hydraulic design/ fabrication as appropriate and familiarity with oilfield and machine shop processes is beneficial but not required
- Able to travel as required
