POSITION SUMMARY
Established in 2001 in Conroe, TX Professional Directional Ltd. has become one of the leading independent horizontal and directional drilling service companies in the US. We have six locations throughout the US and provide services to some of the premier E&P companies in the US. With over a decade of experience and significant financial backing, we are embarking on the next stage of our growth plan which encompasses developing our own suite of products rather than depending on third party providers. With that as background, we are looking to hire an extremely bright Electronics Engineer with experience in the Oil & Gas industry to design and develop electronics for use downhole in directional drilling control systems. A successful candidate will be responsible for the design from proof of concept through qualification testing and release into production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide robust Engineering solutions with regards to environmental factors (pressure / temperature / vibration)
  • Carry a design from concept to manufacturing and provide technical support throughout the process
  • Build and test prototype circuits to qualify the design, ensuring that the design requirements are met
  • Write production test specifications and design any test boxes that may be required
  • Investigate and seek to resolve any issues arising in connection with the production and operation of equipment
  • Embedded programming for the downhole micro-controllers
  • Stay in touch with the design throughout its life cycle, modifying and improving it as required
  • To carry out any other duties as reasonably required by the R&D Engineering Manager
  • Schematic design of circuits and assemblies
  • PCB Layout of printed circuit boards
  • Component specification and obsolescence management
  • Setup testing systems for manufacturing
  • Maintain revision notes on all hardware versions
  • Documentation of product (PCB layout, BOM, assembly instructions, and testing instructions)
  • Update development status with Operations
  • Provide Support to Operations on hardware functionality including oral and written updates on revision changes
  • Lab testing of all hardware to ensure features and functions are correctly implemented
  • Failure Analysis-Root Cause
  • Must be Self-Motivated

As a minimum, the successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electronic and/or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with downhole telemetry systems (Mud Pulse and Electromagnetic)
  • Experience with High Temperature electronics and low power electronics
  • High Vibration environment
  • Motor Control Experience
  • Sensor Interface Experience
  • Can Protocol
  • Minimum of 10 years related oilfield experience
  • Prior experience with Rotary Steerable Systems considered an asset
  • Looking for an individual with strong leadership skills
  • Expert English Language communication skills, both verbal and written required
