Project Cost Analyst

Project Cost Analyst Engineering Estimate Control Business Management Onshore Offshore

Purpose
Development projects position in Cost Engineering targeting individuals who are looking to gain onshore and/or offshore exposure and grow as a project management professional with an Oil and Gas industry Operator. The incumbent will be expected to initiate project plans, develop project cost estimates, risk the estimate, implement project progress measurement systems, report overall project progress and maintain a proven process for managing cost changes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans and cost estimates for project study and execution phases
  • Integrate cost estimates from multiple sources - contractors, vendors, etc. - to build the overall project estimate
  • Conduct cost range analyses, including facilitating sessions
  • Maximize use of common tools and systems to foster continuous improvement
  • Liaise with project team members to ensure that all project facets are addressed in estimates in conformance to Petroleum and Corporate standards
  • Manage capital cost updates, regularly using expertise in core planning, scheduling and cost engineering disciplines developed from knowledge, training and experience
  • Assess project cost performance based on earned value and forecasts
  • Track cost contingency utilization
  • Integrate schedule info into the cost forecast
  • Compile monthly reports
  • Provide cost benchmarks as necessary to validate estimates
  • Gravitate to becoming SME for Cost Engineering within the business

Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction, business or finance.
  • Professional qualifications in Cost Engineering and/or Project Management highly desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of project cost control software tools, a plus
  • Minimum of 8 years experience executing capital projects, minimum 5 of which are directly related to cost estimating, control, analysis and/or project business management, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Good experience in project execution in all phases of projects, from inception through project close out
