Job Description:

One of the leading global providers of offshore drilling services is seeking a Marine Engineer-Hull. The Marine Engineer-Hull would provide engineering and technical support for the Company's fleet of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units. The Marine Engineer would provide technical support to Asset Management and Operations for hull condition issues, structural analysis, inspection methods and requirements, painting and cathodic protection issues, class, and hull repairs, reviews and analysis of hull inspection reports, in liaison with Structural Engineering.


Provides specialized discipline expertise in hull assessment, structural design, welding and corrosion protection for all types of mobile offshore drilling units (jack ups, semi-submersibles, drill ships).
 

  • Develops / update hull inspection procedures, tools, methods, and consults with Asset Management and Operations regarding hull integrity plans.
  • Manages 3D model development with BV, DNV, ABS or other relevant parties. · Evaluates the results of hull thickness measurement campaigns and make recommendations.

  • Develops hull repair procedures in liaison with Structural Engineering.
  • Provides technical support to shipyard projects, Asset Management and Operations for hull inspection and integrity matters. May also require presentation of technical issues to our Clients.
  • Investigates root cause of hull corrosion events and designs practical remediation.
  • Keeps current with new techniques of coatings and corrosion prevention and corrosion protection, inspection methods and tools, analysis methods, and Class rules and regulations.
  • Provides mentoring and technical advice to other engineers in the department.
