This position will be responsible for the evaluation of exploration prospects on operated acreage in the East African Rift play. The successful candidate will be focused primarily on the seismic interpretation of prospects as well as contributing to the understanding of the geologic model and interpretation in the East African Rift play. In addition the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating additional opportunities in the countries in which this company has a working interest.
The position will require an ability to carry out thorough prospect evaluations and risk mitigation through an analysis of all petroleum system elements. Applicants must be proficient in most Landmark and visualization applications. Additionally, the position will require interfacing with other team members and Upstream Technology to ensure an integration of all data (seismic, gravity & magnetic, well data, and regional studies) is accomplished in completing evaluations. The successful candidate will also interact with partners and attend TCMs.
He/she should have an understanding of current imaging technology, its benefits, and its limitations. He/she will be familiar with the full range of depth conversion methodologies.
The successful candidate will be capable of using his/her skills and knowledge to support and make critical and timely business decisions. You must be a team player with good interpersonal, collaboration and communication/ influencing skills. An ability to communicate technical project results clearly and concisely is required. You will have direct external interaction with a number of parties, ranging from National Oil Companies to third party vendors. The job requires periodic international travel. The candidate must be pro-active and self-directed, with an emphasis on meeting deadlines.
1.Carries out evaluation of exploration prospects integrating both geophysical and geologic data.
2.Interpret a variety of G&G data including 2D or 3D seismic, potential field and well data.
3.Geophysical interpretations and to fully understand, characterize and quantify structural and subsurface uncertainties.
4.Experience with tying wells to seismic and well synthetic generation. Seismic interpretation (horizon and fault mapping, seismic facies mapping, seismic attribute analysis).
5.Familiarity with seismic reprocessing, acquisition techniques and methods and depth conversion techniques.
6.Contribute to play fairway analyses and risking methodologies
7.Participate in on-site as well as operator hosted technical committee meetings.
8.Monitor seismic operations.
9.Perform post drill analysis/resource estimations and follow-up appraisal activities.
10.10. Works with other team members and multi-discipline groups to ensure that knowledge is shared and all elements of the petroleum system are appropriately considered and evaluated.
11.Assist team in preparing and making presentations to management and partners.
12.Stay abreast of new technology and apply it appropriately in meeting the group's objectives.
13.Provide input to Peer Assists and Peer Reviews for other projects as needed.
Degree: Bachelors Required & Masters Preferred
