Job Description:

Signa Engineering Corp. is seeking an energetic and experience professional who can develop a program to train newcomers to the oil and gas (O&G) industry skills to be successful, skilled wellsite supervisors.  This position requires an individual who possess the enthusiasm to convey knowledge about field operations while instilling safety as a core value to the new recruits.  Signa Engineering has successfully trained military veterans returning home with career skills directed towards the upstream O&G industry.  Signa's innovative program to develop tomorrow's wellsite leaders is closing the age gap seen in O&G industry field personnel by recruiting the best and putting them through rigorous, dynamic training course to develop the very best technically sound individual for today's oil and gas field operations.  Signa needs experienced professionals to expand and grow the program to help more veterans and to fill the looming oilfield shortage coming with the ''Great Crew Change''.

The Lead Drilling and Completions Operations Instructor plans, develops, and implements technical training schools for customers, new hires, and employees.   Topics covered are intended to provide an understanding of procedures, methods, and safety issues on drilling rigs and completion/work-over/well intervention operations. The technical training includes preparing lesson plans, developing training materials, designing demonstrations, organizing field trips to vendors, and creates criteria to monitor and evaluate training effectiveness.  The instructor must use the latest Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) to create presentations and handouts.  The instructor may retain subject matter experts for specific topics, but must personally be knowledgeable about current Drilling and Completion operations at a rig site.  Continuous revision of course lesson plans and schedules is mandatory to keep the school current with today's technology and client needs.

Required Skills:

  • Must have direct understanding of operations on drilling/completion rigs
  • Must be capable of teaching in a classroom with up to 25 students
  • Strong writing skills and a better than working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (particular Power Point)
  • A genuine interest and excitement about training/teaching others about upstream oilfield operations

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with teaching or instructing students
  • Ability to help train other instructors
  • Exposure to distance training methods and techniques (filming training classes, video conferencing, web conferencing, etc...)
