Job Description:

DUTIES:  A Senior Research Specialist is responsible for the following: Development, design, specification and services related to floating offshore vessels including mooring systems, marine systems and marine equipment primarily for floating production and riser systems, marine construction vessels, floating drilling units, offshore support vessels and other trading ships; Technical solutions of marine installation and removal phases of offshore structures, including load-out, transportation, lift, launch, and float-over mating type of operations and for related marine construction services; Evaluation, selection, and application of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications; Provide assistance in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional type of plans, investigations and surveys; and testing materials, preparing and checking design calculations and specifications, and research investigations.

REQUIREMENTS: PhD in Marine or Ocean Engineering and 2 years of experience in marine engineering utilizing the theories and principles of marine hydrodynamics, structural engineering, and ocean engineering with some experience utilizing their applications in creating and analyzing models of offshore floating structures; using commercial engineering software such as Orcaflex, WAMIT, Shear7, and HydroD; performing calculations of stability of floating vessels; concept design, sizing, and calculating motions of offshore platforms such as semisubmersibles, spar, tension leg platforms and FPSO; designing risers and analyzing risers of various kinds including steel catenary risers, flexible risers, and top tensioned risers; and performing VIV analysis of risers.
