Job Description:

Senior Safety & Training Specialist Responsible for assisting the Manager of Safety & Training with corporate safety & training initiatives and responsibilities. The position will be based in the Denbury Plano Office and will report directly to the Manager of Safety & Training. The position will be required to conduct limited travel to field locations and regulatory workshops & conferences. Ideally, the position will be filled by someone who has excellent organizational and multitasking skills and prior exposure safety & training. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Essential functions of the job may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical and regulatory expertise in safety and training regulations
  • Track and report contractor HSE performance on company wide basis
  • Conduct periodic audits of contractor safety performance and programs
  • Participate as appropriate in contractor incident investigations and monitor follow up of corrective actions
  • Manage the ISNetworld contractor management system
  • Conduct audits and report findings for corrective action
  • Complete OSHA accident/injury reporting reports
  • Conduct new hire HSE orientations
  • Develop and deliver safety & training programs as needed
  • Coordinate instructor led classes (OSHA, NFPA, IADC, and API)
  • Research, coordinate and track employee participation in the HSE training program including maintaining records and renewal/recertification requirements using the ISNetworld system.
  • Responsible for researching and identifying potential outside funding sources via government grants, cooperative programs with local universities and colleges, and other similar opportunities (Workforce training, OSHA grants, regional grants, etc.)
  • Manage computer based training (CBT) systems (e.g., Kaplan, Custom Guide, etc.)
  • Establish training matrix for all positions within the company based on job type, risk, and required knowledge & skills
  • Participate in root cause analyses and incident/accident investigations
  • Communicate with federal, state and local regulatory agencies
  • Participate in emergency response events as needed
  • Manage budgets and costs
  • Successfully interact with all Depts within the organization
  • Prepare weekly status reports for submission to supervisor, and other reports/summaries related to work activities QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Candidate must hold a Professional Safety Accreditation or equivalent credential and/or have five (5) years of experience in safety and/or training
  • Familiar with OSHA standards and industry safety concepts, practices, & procedures
  • Ability and willingness to take on assigned projects through completion
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations including out of state locations on a limited basis
  • Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, and web based applications
  • Public communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work will primarily be conducted in and office environment; however, travel may be required and may include many settings including the district office, field offices, and oil and gas production facilities on land and water. Work may require standing, stooping, walking, climbing, carrying instruments weighing up to 40 pounds, and wearing various personal protective equipment.
