Assignment Location:  St. John's, Newfoundland

Assignment Type: Local (first priority)/Expat

Assignment Start Date: Dec 1, 2012 / Completion Date: 4Q2014 with a possible move to Marystown or Bull Arm, Newfoundland for 1-2 years

JOB FUNCTION:

The Topsides IP Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the overall topsides in-province program planning development, control, and reporting. This person reviews, analyzes, and assists main contractors/subcontractors with plans and schedules, reporting methods, and progress monitoring.  Maintains the Topsides IP integrated schedule with input to the Project's integrated schedule.  Assists the Business Lead with change management activities

Responsibilities and duties:

1.     Provide overall project schedule, progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise

  • Participate in kick-off meetings with the EPC contractor, major subcontractors and PMT to ensure common understanding of planning, estimating, progress measurement, reporting, and change management requirements
  • Maintain close liaison with counterparts in Topsides main office and project home office
  • Support interface management through tracking / stewardship of Topsides IP critical interfaces with overall Topsides and overall Project schedules
  • Ensure that appropriate Contractor project controls staffing and controls tools are employed by Contractors
  • Coordinate, monitor, and assess Contractor's efforts in project planning, sampling to assure quality
  • Steward the EPC contractor's project control organization with respect to:
    • Schedule development, control, progress measurement , and forecasting
  • Conduct schedule stewardship sessions for project team members with respect to project control requirements and processes
  • Participate in gathering and recording lessons learned for the project
  • Support the corporate business controls self-assessment process by ensuring sound business practices within the work area and participate in annual self-assessment as required
  • Assist in Change Management


2.     Supporting PMT and Schedule Stewards with ongoing project schedule analysis, reporting, forecasting, and Change Management.

  • Develop / maintain integrated schedules for internal review purposes including analysis, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Prepare weekly/monthly planning report information
  • Chair/attend meetings relevant to scheduling, or others areas, as required
  • Assist Business Lead as and when required
  • Maintain ongoing schedule opportunity/vulnerability  database


3.     Monitoring and appraising the performance of Contractor's Site in the areas of progress and schedule control.

  • Examine and evaluate the Contractor's schedule control organization, plans, performance and procedures
  • Work with EPC to ensure schedules meet the requirements of the Client and Control Expectations
  • Assist EPC and subcontractor(s) where necessary with scheduling and controls function; provide data to contractor to aid in scheduling efforts
  • Review schedule bases of contractor's Change Proposals - review and endorse Change
  • Assist site management in developing/reviewing schedule corrective actions and recovery plans, and confirming needed actions/plans are implemented.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience with Offshore structures and principles of Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning
  • Knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, and Contracting strategies
  • Experience working on an Owner's team preferred
  • Team player able to work with others of different disciplines
  • Must be able to relocate internationally if needed.
  • Computer literate, especially with Scheduling software, preferably Primavera 6
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business Administration with relevant experience preferred
  • 10+ years minimum experience in Offshore Oil and Gas Industry in a Project Management role, mainly in planning and scheduling
  • Knowledge of ExxonMobil practices, processes, and expectations with respect to project controls is an asset
