Seadrill Americas is looking for experienced Electronic Technicians who are able and willing to work in the US Gulf of Mexico. Seadrill is currently manning several new build drillships and semis. The successful candidates will mobilize to the shipyard in South Korea to assist with commissioning activities, then will transition to working in the GOM as the rig enters service. We are only looking Electronic Technicians with experience working on new generation drillships or DP semis. We are only considering candidates who are US citizens or permanent residents of the US. Section 1 - Job Summary Perform the maintenance and repair of all subsea-related systems. Coordinate the installation of blow out prevention (BOP) equipment with the drilling department under the direction of the Subsea Supervisor. Maintain an accurate condition evaluation of blow out

Section 1 - Job Summary
Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all instrumentation and computer-based control systems onboard the unit in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

Section 2 - Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent - Electrical Engineering or Electronic Technology Degree from an accredited technical school, trade school or college
  • Experience: 5 years of electrical systems with two of these years offshore or two years experience with an industry degree with one of these years offshore
  • Skills: Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics and diagrams. Able to operate software applications as applicable to position
  • Other: Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background Check. Complete competency requirements for current position and work towards gaining competency in the next position.


Section 3 - Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that all installations, repair, calibrations and modifications to the electronic systems and components are carried out in accordance with company policies and regulatory laws
  2. Ensure that the permit to work and energy isolation procedures are strictly adhered to at all times
  3. Ensure that entries on permits, isolation tags and logs reflect current status
  4. Maintain and repair all electronic and instrumentation systems onboard
  5. Carry out installation, calibration and modification to electronic, instrumentation systems and components
  6. Maintain up to date back ups, images and computers. Preserve control system software and ensure software is stored in a secure location
  7. Participate in the effective management of the Company Maintenance Management System and ensure records are maintained in a timely manner
  8. Ensure all electronic equipment brought onto the rig, including Third Party equipment, is certified and meets regulatory requirements
  9. Conversant with the Programmable Logic Computer (PLC) system and networking drive control systems
  10. Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information with OEM and onshore staff
  11. Ensure that the maintenance log and all reports are accurate and complete
  12. Ensure electronic and instrument inventory is maintained in order to facilitate safe and efficient operation of the unit
  13. Carry out maintenance according to the Company Maintenance Management System
  14. Ensure daily inspections and maintenance on all electronic equipment are carried out
  15. Rebuild and repair printed circuit boards
  16. Read and work from electronic blueprint drawings
  17. Assist the electrical department with resolving electrical problems as required
  18. Ensure that approved rig operating procedures are adhered to at all times. Report all unsafe activities, situations, and potential hazards to supervisor
  19. Actively participate in weekly rig and departmental safety meetings
  20. Actively participate in the Safety Management Systems
  21. Ensure housekeeping is maintained in assigned areas
  22. Effectively use all safety and environmental tools employed by Seadrill (4-point check, OBS cards, PTW etc.)
  23. Complete training requirements in a timely manner as per Seadrill training matrix
  24. Perform all emergency duties as per designation on the station bill
