Deepwater Drilling Engineer

Partnering with our client, we are currently searching for three Deepwater Drilling Engineers. The successful candidates will be designing wells from cradle to grave for deepwater GOM projects and working with production and reservoir engineers, geology, geophysical, construction, regulatory and other drilling team personnel to ensure goals are well understood and achievable. The Drilling Engineer assists the operations personnel in their work and works closely with the operations personnel to ensure well work is properly designed. Good communications skills are a must and you must be able to communicate the drilling plan to other team members.

Responsibilities:

• Researches data for well proposals - works closely with engineering & exploration personnel
• Ensures well designs and plans are developed and planned in an efficient, safe, environmentally responsible, and legal manner
• Designs well or workover to meet requirements of requesting organization, consistent with best engineering practices
• Provides timely well cost estimates
• Provides technical assistance to operating personnel
• Provides information and data to secure necessary regulatory permits
• Maintains surveillance of well work and anticipates needs of operating personnel
• Analyzes information gained in the surveillance effort and formulates appropriate response to maintain the well on the plan
• Communicates with engineering and exploration personnel to assist them in decision making
• Establishes, communicates and ensures level of quality assurance to meet the well design
• Evaluates alternative methods and equipment to improve the efficiency of the project including:
  • Review of procedures
  • Review of new or innovative equipment or materials
  • Different applications of existing equipment or material
• Selection of vendors/contractors as well as works with vendors/ contractors to ensure accurate and proper billing for work performed or materials and supplies provided
• Reviews & recommends or approves invoices for payment
• Performs post-well analysis, provides recommendations for improvement

Essentials:

• Project Management skills
• Knowledge of HSE and applicable governmental regulations
• Demonstrates ability for innovative and original thinking with analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Written and verbal communication skills
• High degree of computer literacy in the Microsoft Suite and drilling engineering software
• Experience in risk assessment and well time/cost
• Ability to manipulate, interpret and make decisions based on large data sets and make clear recommendations
• Focuses efforts and prioritizes work to deliver business value
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in petroleum engineering)
• Training in Drilling Engineering, Drilling practices, and well control
• Experience in deepwater with subsea wells
• 15+ years of oil field drilling experience
• Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship
