The Exploration Data Manager is accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive Division-wide Data and Information Strategy that highlights the business priorities and people, processes and technology needed to deliver the strategy in line with the overall Segment data management framework. They work closely with the Global Technical Records Manager within the Division, Global Data Leads of each applicable Function and Region Data Managers, to ensure a consistent programme of Data Management activities and projects is aligned with global Function standards.
Strategy
Developing and executing a Division-wide Data and Information Strategy and roadmap in line with the overall segment data management framework and priorities, working with the relevant Function Global Data Leads for existing and new regions.
Services
Accountable for IT&S and 3rd party resource allocation to DM project delivery and IT&S DM operational support. Accountable for the definition of Exploration requirements and policies for the Operational Data Management service provision to meet Access, Exploration and Appraisal central team demands. Monitor the performance of operational Data Management service to the central teams and Regions with E&A activities.
Process
Accountable for developing and delivering Division-wide DM processes that enable consistency across the Division via training, coaching and mentoring. Provide leadership to AXA Function Data Leads and Technical Records Managers, to embed best practices across the Division, ensuring Regions are aligned with global best practice in tools, data standards and workflows. Accountable for Continuous Improvement & automation of DM in AXA. Is the DM SPA for compliance with OMS.
Governance
Accountable for defining and implementing a Division DM governance framework to aid Division-wide decision-making, standards and funding. Accountable for defining information and records management policy for data the Division is accountable for, drawing on internal BP policy and local external regulation; provides assurance that each Region's policy is in place. Accountable data quality assessment and metrics reporting. Accountable for compliance with IT&S DM operational standards and IT&S standards e.g. Bill of IT.
Performance Management
Accountable for meeting the Division DM Performance contract. Accountable for facilitating the performance process, defining and meeting local and strategic IT&S KPIs. Prepares the overall view of the AXA Annual Data Management Budget, and manages the IT&S DM budget delegated by the CIO. Monitors and manages the performance of DM within AXA against agreed KPIs and providing support to each of the individual Function Data Leads to meet their performance targets.
Organisation
Accountable for all IT&S DM resources in AXA and providing coordination and alignment to Function DM resource. Where DM services are provided by the Global Operational Service, they work with the relevant Regional/Site Service Line Lead to specify demand, and direct the work of those resources. Accountable for setting up the Data Management organisation within a new Region.
Projects
Coordinates the Data management project demand across AXA and ensures defined governance & project processes are applied. Provides support to assist in the prioritisation of DM projects and in articulating requirements. Manages delivery of Segment mandated/Common implementations. Manages Portfolio of Improvement Projects.
Communication and Engagement
Responsible for communicating the Division Data & Information Management key information (Strategy, roadmaps, operating model, performance, policy and responsibilities) to the broader Division community. Influences the Division leadership in the data management strategic decisions. Represents AXA data management to the Head of Data Management and Standard Solutions organisation. Provides Global liaison with Region Data Managers. Is active within the Data Management Communities. Works closely with IT&S BIMs, Service Delivery Manager.
Technology
Accountable for the development, acquisition and maintenance of local tools for integration of Standard Solutions. Accountable for local configuration of global tools including the associated security model. Accountable for translating business requirements into technical solutions in the Division in line with the Standard Solutions portfolio. Accountable for providing mechanisms & systems for capturing master data and making these visible to the business.
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Information Technology or Upstream related fields (Geosciences, Engineering)
- Expert level experience spanning Upstream, IT&S and/or project management areas, with significant experience in the provision of IT services performing a technical data management role or similar business consulting role.
- Thorough understanding of both IT and Upstream Oil & Gas key business processes
- Demonstrable experience linking Strategy to operational delivery
- Demonstrable experience in Program or Project Management leadership role
- Demonstrable experience in Management of Change or business process improvement
- Demonstrable experience in working with external partners and 3rd party suppliers
- Significant experience leading large teams, with and without direct reporting lines
- Ability to work in a global context with multiple business teams in various geographical locations.
