Partnering with our client, we are currently searching for a Borehole Survey Technician / Real Time Analyst

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide confirmation to company's asset teams that the positional objectives of specific wells, and hence the drilling target have been met
  • Provide in a timely matter corrected MWD surveys and drilling corrections while interacting in real time with Remote MWD and Geosteering engineers
  • Operate as focal point for all wellbore positioning related issues
  • Correct with the most accurate estimate of the declination (angular correction of the survey from magnetic north to true north reference) and provide the best estimate of the local magnetic field that the survey tools can provide in order to reduce further reduced positional uncertainty
  • Liaise with drilling engineering, operations and geomatics team members within our US assets
  • Liaise with survey vendor representatives
  • Collect surface survey plat and downhole position information (Surveys) of recent and legacy drilled wells
  • QA/QC surveys in Compass, define tie-on points
  • Using vendor provided raw data files, use survey platform tool to asset magnetic survey data quality
  • Enter final surveys into Compass, assign tie-on points and survey tool
  • Assess survey quality and define survey program to compile definitive survey
  • Document findings
  • Review results
  • Report out weekly

Essentials:

  • Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Please upload a copy of all required certifications and training
  • Background in well construction, downhole surveying, directional drilling and geodesy
  • Understanding of wells, wellbores, and survey tools
  • Landmark EDM Compass directional software or industry equivalent
  • QA/QC magnetic survey tool runs
  • Able to set and achieve goals
  • Attention to detail, inquisitive
  • Self starter, works without direct supervision
  • Strong analytical skills, can identify when something looks out of specifications
  • Strong computer skills
  • Works well in a distributed team
