Job Description:

 

Oil and gas exploration and production company. My client is one of the largest and most well respected oil and gas companies in the US. Great opportunity for career growth!

* Loads, analyzes, and manages 2-D and 3-D seismic trace data and informs any data quality issues to geoscientists in exploration and development departments and communicates with data providing companies to resolve various data issues * Merges and re-grids multiple seismic data sets including amplitude, frequency, and phase balance and scaling to obtain the best possible data sets for interpretation * Streamlines SeisWork projects to optimize project sizes that are most appropriate for interpreters * Manages and archives seismic and well database to secure and preserve all geoscience data. Coordinates with IT department to backup and restore projects and maintains security restrictions * Coordinates with IT department and vendors to install, test, maintain, and upgrade geoscientific software. Provides technical support to all geoscientists * Evaluates current software and hardware and recommends appropriate upgrades and new purchases to most appropriately satisfy the needs of the Exploration and Production departments.

* Bachelor's degree in science or engineering required; computer science degree will be a plus * Requires a minimum of five years of experience in seismic and well data loading and managing large projects * Ability to use different types of projection systems utilized in seismic, well, and mapping data * Proficient in UNIX and LINUX, with knowledge of Landmark OpenWorks/SeisWork * Seismic data processing and programming skills are a big plus * Ability to work with geoscientists to resolve data issues, software/hardware application problems, and work closely with lead analyst.
