Reporting to the Process Safety Supervisor, the individual's primary function is to be a leader in the implementation, management, support, and compliance to our client's 20 Element Process Safety Management System (based on CCPS). This is under four main umbrellas: Commit to Process Safety; Understand Process Safety Hazard and Risks; Manage Process Safety Risk; and Learn from Experience with major elements: MOC, PSSR, PSI, PHA, Incident Investigations, and Audits. The primary function is to support facility application of process safety with a secondary role to be the corporate liaison for process safety. The individual must have in-depth process knowledge and be able to work closely with the Process Safety Management (PSM) team, Technical Services, HSE&SR, Production, and Maintenance staff.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Member of Process Safety Team to support implementation, management, and consistent application of process safety elements;
Corporate liaison for process safety, assisting with site input to corporate standards and bringing knowledge of global standards to the organization;
Be a leader in the development of the Five-Year Process Safety Risk Engineering Plan, including quantitative and qualitative risk engineering;
Facilitate consequence analysis for fire, overpressure, and toxic release scenarios;
Process hazard analysis including HazOp facilitation;
Review and recommend improvements of specifications and standards for fire and gas detection, fireproofing, fire suppression, and deluge systems;
Proactive monitoring of process safety related equipment, process safeguarding, and control logic;
Experience in management of change for process plants;
Audit leader including development and implementation of process safety audit program;
Trained facilitator of Process Safety Incident, RCA, PSSR, PHA, and Hazard Identifications;
Work with staff from operating, maintenance, and engineering staff regarding PSM activities and improvements, and provide ongoing mentorship and training;
Site expert in PSM standards and processes;
Process safety information knowledge base;
MOC application site expert and support;
Manage Incident Lotus Notes Database for process safety events;
Advise Area Production and Discipline Teams in application of PSM elements;
Lead the development of process safety metrics and measurements;
Understand Asset Integrity and Reliability Program and process safety requirements.
Acts as the technical authority in process safety design.
Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred;
Process Engineering knowledge and experience
Oil and gas operational experience required;
Knowledge of PSM (API, CCPS);
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with and influence management and technical groups;
Ability to read technical drawings and correct PSM related anomalies prior to installation;
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Ideally would have experience working with a multicultural workforce;
An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted.
Must be experienced in leading teams of formal and informal direct reports.
