Chief Mechanic - Offshore Jackup Rigs

Job Purpose - Overall responsibility to manage the Plant & Machinery, Equipment on board Jack Up Rig and implement Planned Maintenance System to ensure smooth and trouble free functioning of the Offshore Rig.

Tasks:
1    Management of the Rig Plant & Machinery, Jacking Systems and Planned Maintenance System
2    Ensure all Engineers and Engine room crew are familiar with the relevant engineering procedures used on the Rig.
3    Efficient operation and maintenance of all plant in strict adherence to the safety and pollution prevention measures defined in the Safety Management Systems.(SMS)
4   Maintaining all records of routine and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with statutory requirements and Safety Management Systems
5   In consultation with the Technical Manager ensuing that statutory and classifications surveys are carried out on all equipment covered by such survey requirements
6   Maintaining stand by plant and equipment in a complete state of readiness to meet any emergency requirement
7   Testing of standby systems on a regular basis and in accordance with Company procedures
8   Notifying the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) of any defects which might affect unit safety or put at risk the marine environment
9   Assigning Engineers and Engine Room ratings specific roles with respect to the Engine Room department's responsibilities under the SMS
10  Investigating non-conformities and applying corrective action as agreed with the Technical Manager and OIM
11  Regular inspection of all plant and equipment to ensure maximum up time
12  Ensuring that the Engine Room logbook and other records are accurate and up to date
