 Position Summary:
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Subsea Intervention Systems Engineering (drafters, designers, engineers). Develops and executes engineering departmental, project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops, executes and manages the engineering group's budgets. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers (internal and external), direct reports, and regulatory compliance officials. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, engineering processes, prioritizes workload via effective technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, design changes, cost and risk, and supports process and effectives improvement for all subsea systems in regards to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operations, and maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Responsible for providing effective leadership and management of engineering personnel
•Manages resource optimization, workload prioritization/coordination of multi-project schedules.
•Manages reduction of length in engineering work completion of concept, design and all associated engineering processes, while providing internal verification of engineering programs to ensure project integrity.
•Accountable for detailed design calculations, preparation of engineering data sheets & specifications, shop fabrication drawings and trouble shooting of design problems resulting from shop and field capabilities.
•Supports sales and marketing efforts through participation in pre-bid/preliminary design engineering, and preparation of tender drawings, as well as development and delivery of technical presentations to customers and regulatory compliance officials.
•Supports Operations through effective management of FEED studies, cost estimation of material, plant and other preliminary activities and collaborate with commercial/procurement personnel in preparation of quotation, material sourcing, and vendor development.
•Manage the relationship with clients to ensure they understand the impact of any engineering changes in scope.
•Contributes to WWC project structure through allocating and robust monitoring and control of engineering resources, and by overseeing the preparation of engineering project plans to ensure scope and resources are optimized. And just as importantly, exercises leadership of Change Control on processes and procedures.
•Responsible for timely supply of time-bound engineering deliverables to customers (internal and external) within budget. Challenges that can be achieved through the creation of workflows that allow optimum cost estimating on new and active projects.
•Liaise with relevant vendors for OEM detailed engineering (design and systems interface) of multiple disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Structural, and Piping engineering.
•Communicates engineering department activities, project progress status, challenges and successes through a monthly update to the Senior VP.
•Create, maintain and manage a lessons learned database developed from all previous marine projects and other industry sources to ensure that we continually apply engineering best practices and minimize/avoid re-occurrence of non-conformances.
•Responsible for integration of Health Safety Environmental and Quality into every design, process and procedure of every subsea system.
Experience:
•15 plus years overall experience in the oil and gas industry to include:
o5+ years of engineering management experience
o3 to 5 years of project management experience
o3 to 5 years of design experience
•Oil & Gas - Subsea architecture products and well structure experience a plus
•Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)
Education:
•BS of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
•P.E. certification a plus.
