Drilling Engineer\Technology

The Drilling Engineer is responsible for assessing technology and providing peer support for division drilling efforts to implement capital programs associated with managing performance and growth of assets including New Ventures. The work includes application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to optimize drilling performance, as well as identification and establishment of engineering best practices for specific technology associated with horizontal drilling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Collaborates with division technical staff to provide leading edge technology expertise and engineering best practices. This includes:
  • Horizontal drilling
  • Planning for pad drilling
  • Geomechanics
• Assesses technology needs and transfers to technical staff
• Works closely with Divisions to identify and manage metrics and reduce non-productive time through standard data collection and reporting
• Oversees analytical tools and training as applicable
• Coordinates and oversees consortia memberships and database services as applicable

Details Specific to this Job:

PREREQUISITES

• Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably petroleum engineering
• 10+ years drilling engineering experience with horizontal drilling; applicants with less experience who can demonstrate exceptional skills with relevant experience will also be considered
• Demonstrated thorough understanding of geomechanics as related to resource plays
• Software skills that include MS Office (Access, PowerPoint), data mining and analytics (SpotFire, SAS)
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work in collaborative environment to achieve project-related goals, including good organization and communication skills, self-motivated, creative, and results oriented
• Able to communicate and work effectively with all levels of management
• Ability to travel as needed
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
