SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending upon background, education, training, and experience, Electrical Design Engineers are involved in the design of thruster control system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision of the Engineering Supervisor, make recommendations in the design and development of new products.
Design of motor starters, motor control centers, and AC Drives to meet specific needs for each project.
Design single line diagrams, electrical schematics, fabrication drawings, layouts and assembly arrangements associated with control panels and junction boxes, cables and instruments.
Able to program and commission and repair of low and medium voltage AC Drives.
Able to develop a thruster control algorithms using control software.
Must support service technicians to solve any issues during commissioning around the clock.
Able to write functional descriptions and develop control checking process.
Construct 3-D solid models of components and systems for manufacturing processes, function and motion validation, mechanical design margin, and interference studies.
Apply basic engineering principals, theories, concepts and techniques to tasks and projects that are within established and appropriate industry standards.
Coordinate with quality assurance in the assessment and specification of quality plans and processes in accordance with ISO-9001:2000 or regulatory or classification requirements.
Provide appropriate engineering support for project activities including proposals, contracts, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, and customer acceptance trials.
Manage the preparation of bills of material, electrical drawings and data, reference drawings, general arrangement, and detail drawings and procedures for handling, installation, operation and maintenance.
Ensure quality control in accordance with the company ISO-9001:2008 Quality Assurance System (QAS).
Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures.
Interact and support a broad spectrum of personnel internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
Represent the technical capabilities of the company and its products at customer meetings, trade shows, conferences and seminars.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Engineering Supervisor/Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; and
Strong Electrical Engineering background; and
Experience with motors and AC Drives; and
Control system design experience; and
AUTOCAD Electrical experience
Knowledge on communication protocols like J1939, CANOpen, Modbus RTU.
Experience troubleshooting electrical control systems.
Two (2) years experience in the design and manufacturing of rotating, electrical, electro-hydraulic, or marine propulsion machinery and equipment; and
Knowledge of Electrical Codes and Standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering; and
Knowledge of Siemens AC Drives.
Knowledge of Sauer-Danfoss-PLUS+1 software.
Experience in marine control applications.
Five (5) years experience in the design and manufacturing of rotating, electrical, electro-hydraulic, or marine propulsion machinery and equipment or marine propulsion systems.
