Chief Officer

Change International are currently looking for a Chief Officer for a brand new Drillship currently being commissioned. Once completed, the rig will be going to Africa for a long term contact.

Candidates must hold a minimum of Chief Mates Unlimited ticket and either hold or have plans to sit the Masters ticket in future.
Candidates should also have a good DP background, full DP ticket and have worked as Chief Officer on a drilling unit for 2 years.

**2 years experience on 5th or 6th generation drilling rig is essential**

You will be reporting to the Master/ OIM and be responsible for the safety of crew, safe operation of the ship and pollution prevention.

Main Duties include:

 Ensure compliance to Company policies, local and international laws relating to the operation of the vessel and strict compliance with current pollution regulations.
Understudy and deputise for the Master when required
Oversee the maintenance of deck equipment, fire fighting and lifesaving equipment, lifting equipment, ship's exterior and interior fabric report, maintenance and cosmetic appearance.
Perform daily stability calculations
Check on SVC, or using portable gauge, contents of all tanks.
Monitor structural loads daily, ensuring they do not exceed the maximum permissible
Supervise the loading and unloading of supply vessels
Ensure products, materials and equipment loaded onboard are safely stowed and secured.
Supervisory duties over (Banksman) on heavy lifts on deck, at nights
Supervisory duties over the DPO
Ensure the safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
Maintain communication with other departments regarding work priorities and operational requirements.
