Ikon provides software & services to the energy industry - developing & delivering RokDoc® software, QI Services, GeoPressure Consultancy & Multi-Client Studies, with a fresh & flexible scientific approach to create subsurface value
Reporting to the Global Geoscience Support Manager the remit of this role is to provide technical support & demo capability of the RokDoc System suite of software. In due course delivering software training will also be expected of the successful candidate.
The Pre-Sales (Support & Training) Geoscientist shall be responsible for: -
1. Provide pre-sales technical assistance to Business Development Managers
2. Working in a team to answer client queries to a high technical standard
3. Assisting &/or leading software training courses
4. Provide on-site consultancy to clients
5. Liaise with the Software Development Team to recommend potential improvements
6. Assist the Software Testing Team during critical phases of software release cycle
7. Any other duties consistent with the role
Skills requirements
1. Able to work in a team
2. Excellent communication skills, especially written (email)
3. Excellent presentation skills (for training & client demos)
4. Able to generate new technical material suitable for client distribution
5. Attentiveness to detail & responsive to client needs
6. Proficient in MS Office
7. Knowledge of Ikon Science software & Petrel is advantageous
Experience
• Oil industry experience
• Experience in drilling (mud logging/LWD/MWD), seismic acquisition/processing, rock physics, geopressure analysis, petrophysics are all considered relevant
• Degree: BSc / Msc/ PhD in one of the following disciplines: Geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Physics
Other
1. The office is located in Houston, USA with some international travel required
