JOB SCOPE
Responsible for programming CNC machine operations (either lathe or mill), and for setting up CNC machines for operators. May run CNC machine when not working on programs or set-ups.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Write programs for CNC machines either manually or by using the current programming system.
Select tooling for each operation.
Maintain files of programs for safety backup and ease of storage.
Use the set-up and first piece cycle to develop improvements in tooling and programming.
Identify and resolve set-up and run problems without assistance.
Conducts tests on inserts, tools, machines and coolants to optimize machine efficiency.
Challenge current progresses and incorporate improvements in programs, set-ups and tooling.
Use computer and plotter to produce plots, forms and graphs as required.
Working knowledge of the different types of coordinated systems used on CNC machines and all canned cycles on Fanuc controls.
Responsible of adhering to Safety and Environmental, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Policies and Procedures.
keep the machine area clean and orderly at all times.
Punctual, avoiding excessive absences.
Available to work overtime when required including weekends and holidays.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Essential
Ability to define all geometric tolerance and symbols, and calculate dimensions.
Ability to manually calculate tool nose radius compensation.
Good interpersonal skills to give guidance, direction and assistance to others in the technical aspects of work.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of tool selection speeds and feeds for machine applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Minimum five to eight years programming machine experience.
Ability to read and interpret complex blue prints.
Abiility to program standard lathes and mills
Ability to read, speak and write the English language.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential
Experience programming with Mazatrol
Experience with G-code
Experience with five axis machining
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
Preferred
Experience with Esprit and/or ProNC
Working knowledge of Auto Cad, Solid Works. Basic knowledge of machine controls using G-Codes
