Job Description:

BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc. requires an experienced, skilled Business Development Analyst to support BP's efforts to commercialize Alaska's known North Slope gas resource of some 35 trillion gross cubic feet. CEOs of the major North Slope resource owners (BP, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil), along with the Alaska Governor, recently announced their intent to jointly investigate the potential for commercializing Alaska's gas through an LNG export concept.

This Business Development Analyst position will report to the Director of Business Development in Anchorage, and will routinely interact with business development and other staff in both Anchorage and Houston. The Analyst will perform BP's economic analysis of Alaska gas commercialization, which will include evaluation of both the LNG export concept and an overland gas pipeline, as well as potential sales to in-state markets.

If the joint LNG team confirms the technical and commercial viability of the LNG concept, the Analyst will also assist in the analysis supporting and other preparations for negotiation of gas fiscal terms with co-venturers and the State of Alaska, ultimately leading to development of definitive fiscal terms.

  • Financial modeling in support of gas fiscal contract term development, and developing / maintaining an economic model for the Alaska LNG concept selection team integration
  • Provide analysis in support of fiscal terms development, and associated negotiations, leading to drafting of definitive contract language
  • Network with BP legal, tax and treasury to perform the necessary analysis (both critical thinking and financial modeling) to develop recommended BP positions on fiscal terms
  • Prepares necessary internal financial authorizations as required (e.g., Authority to Negotiate (ATN), Finance Memorandum (FM), etc.)
  • Draft term sheets associated with fiscal terms
  • Assist in the development of legislative testimony

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business from a fully accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and critical thinking skills.
