Job Description:
Talascend is currently seeking a Planning Analyst for a direct hire opportunity in Houston, TX.

Overview:

This Planning Analyst will be extensively involved in monthly tracking of Global Exploration actual results and changes to budgets, variance analysis of these numbers and creation of presentations with these numbers.  There will also be extensive involvement in creation of the annual budget during the corporate planning cycle.  Additionally, this position will field numerous special requests for Global Exploration.  This position is in the Global Exploration-Planning group and reports to the Global Exploration Planning Manager.

Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for several tasks on a regular basis including but not limited to:

Monthly summary sheets of budget projections with variance analysis
Updating various presentation materials to reflect the latest changes to budgets and resource projections
Maintaining a resource inventory and documenting changes to that inventory
Maintaining and tracking budget and scenario changes in Hyperion
Providing year-end authorization schedules
Extensive involvement in the budget process including CPM sheet adjustments
Budget summaries and variance analysis
Maintain the inventory of projected resource adds and changes
Engage in creating and/or vetting financial analysis associated with exploration projects as needed.
Field a variety of special requests related to budget projections and other items.

Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelors required.
Major Discipline: Finance, Accounting, Business, Petroleum Engineering, or related degree.  Relevant work experience could serve in lieu of specific major.  MBA a plus

Years Experience Required: 5+ years experience in oil and gas or finance/accounting industry.  Planning and financial analysis experience preferred.

Computer Knowledge: Advanced Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint as well as Hyperion required; Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Decisioneering Crystal Ball, Palisade @Risk preferred; ARIES experience a plus.
