Wild Well Control is currently seeking a Valve Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX.
Summary
The Valve Engineer works with an interdisciplinary team to design and configure valve equipment for subsea applications. This person will be responsible for the quality of valve specifications and for the quality of valve technical bit/quote proposals provided by vendors. In addition, the Valve Engineer will also participate in the maintenance of technical standards for valve equipment and answer technical queries from internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in his/her field, functioning also as a technical advisor and project specialist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and perform engineering functions.
- Act as a lead engineer for all aspects related to system valves and associated equipment.
- Perform/check relevant fit, function, performance, failure analyses and prepare reports, specifications, and drawings specifications and drawings specific to valve equipment.
- Perform design work on new products and special projects related to valve applications.
- Provide technical guidance, maintain and update, as needed, all ISO, ASME, API and other industry standards and QA requirements.
- Optimizes form and fit of equipment to suit project/application specific requirements.
- Develop practical maintenance, test and refurbishment protocols and procedures.
- Develop equipment replacement parts, spares, and inventory lists for shop and field locations.
- Assess, identify and recommend new subsea valve equipment and technology.
- Lead Engineering efforts by performing material application and specification research to calculate, verify, and determine feasibility and viability of valve applications for projects.
- Produce and review technical designs/drawings/proposals for manufacturing/engineering as needed.
- Perform final engineering and QA checks to ensure compliance with engineering processes and QA requirements as needed.
- Perform design work on new products and special projects related to valve applications.
- Provide support in outsourcing engineering work, if needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years' experience with valve design, preferably from the offshore oil/gas industry
- Strong understanding of industry design codes (API, DNV, ASME, BS).
- Firm understanding of ISO, ASME and API compliance regulations, codes and standards, as well as other international codes/standards.
- Working knowledge of Solidworks, Pro-E or other 3-D design/drafting software
- Understanding of material applications for a variety of industrial/service applications, as well as solid understanding of corrosion, erosion, H2S & CO2 effects.
Education
- B.S. degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
