Job Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY
Drilling Technician works in Drilling Department assisting Drilling Manager and Drilling Supt. with all activities associated with drilling. Responsible for entering all pertinent drilling data into company computer file system. Likewise, is responsible for accumulating and transferring all SEMS data into SEMS portal.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Drilling Operations: Technician will gather information to aid in the design and planning of drill wells, preparation of cost estimates and AFE's. Additional tasks include: monitoring drilling well progress and costs; preparation of data needed for compliance with BSEE regulatory rules; daily plotting of directional surveys to ensure wells are on target; and comparing actual and projected values for drilling time and costs. Assist in the preparation of the drilling procedures and prognosis books. Assist in the development of the drilling schedule; verify that any long-delivery materials are ordered and delivered on time; and assist with the disposal of excess casing and tubing after well project is completed. Provide daily checks of drilling reports to assure that all reports are complete as to attachments. Prepare a well follow-up to assure that Company file records are complete and accurate. Analyze daily drilling activities; prepare well reports showing percentage breakdowns of activities. Assist Drilling Supt. with invoice verifications and special projects. Assist Drilling Manager with preparation of Capital Drilling Budget, Drilling Schedule and other related subjects. Study after the fact well costs by functions to gain knowledge for better preparation of AFE's. Keep accurate records of tubular inventory. Work with Accounting Department to make sure that tubular Material Transfers are prepared and properly accounted for.
SEMS: Responsible for seeing that all SEMS required documentation is being collected and properly placed in SEMS portal.
Reporting: Monitor for accuracy daily drilling reports. Ensure that all reports for drilling wells are received and placed in drilling books.
Procurement: Assist Drilling Supt. in monitoring to ensure that materials for drilling wells have been ordered and that approved AFE's and/or PO's are in place prior to all purchases.
Invoice Verification: Assist as necessary to ensure invoices for drilling operations and production operations are correct, have required backup and are ready for approval.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor or Associate degree in math or technology preferred.
- Minimum 7 years experience in oil & gas operations (Preferably experience as a Drilling Technician with a Major or Independent Oil and Gas Company).
- Must have good analytical skills.
- Computer Skills: MS Word, MS Excel, Acrobat, Turbo-Cad
