 Rotating Equipment Engineer: Operator: North Africa
Specialist reporting to the Deputy Maintenance General Manager,The expatriate position will be on a 28/28 rotation basis and will be located in a remote field site in the Desert
The purpose of this position is to manage the maintenance/reliability of all rotating equipment, in both the facilities and the field, and to provide direction to the maintenance departments. The role will provide expert advice with the aim of meeting production and maintenance objectives and keeping equipment downtime to a minimum.
Responsibilities
Actively participate in the procurement, installation and commissioning of rotating equipment
Develop and implement rotating equipment reliability plans e.g. condition monitoring/maintenance reviews
Define operating envelopes for systems and equipment
Maintain equipment reliability by implementing preventative and corrective maintenance programs through a CMMS system such as Maximo or Oracle systems
Monitor daily rotating equipment maintenance activities and ensure work is being carried out safely, according to schedule and to expected standards
Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date equipment records, including baseline data
Analyze equipment monitoring data and develop appropriate responses to reliability problems
Identify and initiate purchase of equipment spares and necessary tools to maintain the operation of assets. Follow up the purchasing of equipment to ensure the correct items are delivered and maintained in stock
Verify correct parts are being used and assess whether used parts are repairable
Identify root cause of failures and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
Review/develop standardized repair procedures for use in internal and external repair shops
Participate in engineering design reviews, safety reviews, etc
Supervise the vendor representatives responsible for the maintenance of the gas turbine generators. This involves the day to day maintenance of these machines as well as assistance in troubleshooting problems and planning overhauls and modifications
Report daily to national and expat supervisors regarding problems and solutions, daily activity, and recommendations
Identify areas where maintenance employees require additional training and to assist in the development of training programs including on the job training.
Liaise with other departments to ensure maintenance requirements are implemented on a timely basis
This position requires the ability to resolve daily problems to accomplish the core objectives of the Company. There is a high volume of drilling, workover, production, construction and processing activity which require professional organizational and planning skills to respond to and manage multiple issues at one time. Other experience and skills requirements include:
Educated to degree level or similar in mechanical engineering or related subject
10+ years of experience in rotating equipment operation/maintenance
Operator Experience
Experience with a variety of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, expanders, generators, etc.
Experience with Solar gas turbine generators an advantage
Solid understanding of applicable industry standards
