Job Description:
Ocean Rig owns and operates the two drilling rigs Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude and the four drill ships Ocean Rig Corcovado, Ocean Rig Olympia, Ocean Rig Poseidon and Ocean Rig Mykonos.  All six units are constructed for Ultra Deep Waters and Harsh Environment.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Technical Section Leader (TESL).  This will primarily be based in Stavanger although offshore visits may be required.

The TESL'S overall responsibilities are, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

Maintain an overall view of all operations, direction and tempo of the projects
Conduct onshore inductions with all project contractors, prior to boarding the rig
Coordinate logistic and personnel movements in conjunction with shore based logistic support
Maintain communications between project objectives and the daily operation of the rig
Provide regular schedule updates and progress reports to OR management
Chair all project related meetings onboard
Ensure that all personnel under their supervision possess the necessary qualification and experience to properly carry out the work assigned to them from a professional as well as a safety point of view

Ensure that all maintenance and repairs, both planned and unplanned, are properly organised and executed in a professional manner and to a high standard
Ensure familiarity with the drilling units including all relevant systems onboard.
Ensure familiarity with all governmental and classification society rules and regulations
Responsible for the general safety training of personnel within their area of responsibility
Promote on-the-job training
Demonstrate through their work, dedication to Ocean Rig HSE & Q systems and proven to be an active Safety Leader
Instruct all new employees of their duties and responsibilities
Ensure that all orders and instructions given in writing or verbally are fully understood and adhered to
To be present and active participating in any inspection within his area of responsibility carried out by representatives from any authority and/or classification society
Carry out continuous machinery surveys (CMS) as per class requirements
Promptly report all accidents, near-miss accidents and non-conformances through the proper channels
React timely to corrective action requests
Carry out duties according to the Emergency and Contingency Manual when needed
Inform supervisor of any suggestion to make a safer working environment to make a more efficient operation of the units
At all times follow the maintenance policy laid down by Ocean Rig AS.
Ensure that all maintenance records are properly prepared, filed and kept
Ensure that all mechanical machinery and electrical equipment, including cranes, onboard are operated properly

Training/experience:

Experience working in a similar position is a great advantage.
As a minimum requirement the Technical Section Leader shall have a valid 1st Class Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency and minimum two years experience as Ass. Technical Engineer.
Hold a valid health certificate.
Must have good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written.
