Ocean Rig own and operate Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude, two of the world's largest and most modern drilling rigs, built for ultra deepwater and extreme weather conditions. We have also taken delivery of four brand new 6th generation drillships all of which are operational. To continue with the growth of Ocean Rig, three further deepwater drillships have been ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea, these are expected in 2013.
The company vision is to expand the operating base while maintaining a sole focus on ultra deepwater and harsh environment drilling, becoming the drilling contractor of choice for our customers, employees and shareholders in an incident free environment.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior QHSE Engineer to join our growing company. This role will be based at Ocean Rig Offices at Stavanger, Norway.
Main responsibilities/duties:
Full familiarity with Ocean Rig's HES&Q system and carry out work in accordance with the applicable procedures and instructions
Verify the implementation of Ocean Rig's HES&Q system in the projects
Write procedures for own area of responsibility within the projects
Give input to Ocean Rig's/Rig Owner's yearly HES&Q Audit Program and carry out HES&Q audits at the onshore office and offshore related to the project
Participate in HES&Q audits performed towards the projects by Client and/or Authorities
Participate in HES&Q audits towards Vendors and in evaulation of Vendor's HES&Q system/programmes
Oversee all activities requested and provided by Occupational Health Service provider
Take responsibility for non-conformance notices issued within allocated projects
Give advice regarding quality assurance and health, safety and environmental related problems that may arise
Verify that the system of Safety Delegates is functioning satisfactory within allocated projects
Evaluate rig modifications (hardware or management system)
Appraise and distribute Safety Notices from the Authorities, Clients, Vendors to relevant personnel
Provide professional assistance when identifying and evaluating risk related to operation of rigs including health risk for employees
Participate in accident/incident investigations as required
Provide professional assistance when planning, arranging and organising new work places and work operations
Arrange for necessary training related to accident and health hazards at the workplace to the workers and management
Ensure that yearly HES&Q Programmes are established and implented for vessel
Stay informed about Client's and Authorities' requirements regarding HES&Q management systems
Keep a complete copy file of all vessel/project related correspondence with Authorities up to date.
Take part in emergency preparedness exercises organised by client and/or by Ocean Rig
Participate in the emergency organisation onshore as defined in Ocean Rig's ''Onshore Emergecy Response Plan'' either for Head Office or Rig Base Office
Assist in the supervision and training of junior QHSE personnel
Qualification Requirements
Previous experience in Quality Assurance, Health, Environmental and Safety related work
Current valid NEBOSH certificate
Higher technical/administrative education, preferably including subjects on QHSE management
Be able to work systemically and independently
Excellent written and oral English skills
This position is based in Stavanger. No relocation package is available
