Intermediate Structural/Piping Designer

Summary:

The Intermediate Structural/Piping Designer will complete design/drafting projects based upon requests from the rig fleet and from other departments within the company. These projects will include producing conceptual designs and detailed construction design drawings. The Intermediate Structural/Piping designer must work closely with the senior designers, engineers and operations personnel. The primary responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data, designing and providing full drafting support through engineering project completion.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform structural steel & piping design/drafting.
• Perform calculations for piping systems to be designed & create detailed piping schematics.
• Work closely with engineering to support operations and marketing.
• Be integrally involved in structural steel & piping design for offshore drilling rigs with a goal of developing a comprehensive understanding of the drilling rig for fleet maintenance and technical and operation support.
• Develop working knowledge of applicable standards including ABS, DNV, IMO, ISO, Flag State requirements, AISC, API, etc.
• Interface with the rig and shipyard personnel.


Qualifications:


Education and/or Work Experience:

• Minimum 3-year technical degree with emphasis on structural steel & piping design/drafting.
• 8+ years experience in structural steel & piping design/drafting.
• Familiarity with offshore drilling rig layout, offshore construction practice and shipyard construction standards.
• Possess general knowledge of applicable standards including ABS, DNV, IMO, ISO, Flag State requirements, AISC, API, etc.


Computer Experience:

• AutoCAD 2004 (2D drafting & 3D modeling)
• AutoDesk Inventor
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
• Microsoft Windows
