Safety and Environmental Manager
Overview:
Exciting new opportunity with a major Operator located in Jane Lew, WV! Competitive compensation, as well as, added responsibility for an EHS Manager looking to grow their knowledge in the Marcellus Shale. Evaluations every 6 months with the ability to increase salary based on production.
Responsibilities:
. Ensures regulatory compliance and conformance with Chesapeake EH&S policies at Chesapeake facilities and construction related projects.
. Monitors the compliance and conformance of contractors during construction, reclamation and remediation projects.
. Ensures that required data is collected, maintained and processed for Chesapeake's production/operation facilities to support the development of SPCC Plans.
. Ensures appropriate data is collected for preparation of applications for environmentally related permits, i.e. air, stream crossings, storm water, floodplains.
. Develops potential corrective actions to address deficiencies noted in observations.
. Assists in the investigation of Company violations of a regulatory nature, including field investigations.
. Provide input for the improvement of Company policies and procedures.
. Provides and maintains a direct relationship and communication with local, State and Federal agency personnel at the local level.
. Communicate with the corporate EH&S groups to resolve violations, maintain permits and address releases.
. Oversees or directs the cleanup and/or remediation of spilled materials.
. Other duties as may be assigned.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with Chesapeake's Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.
Requirements:
. 3 - 5 plus years experience in a regulatory, environmental or compliance position.
. Preferred: A Bachelor of Science degree or other advanced degree in Environmental Sciences or related field, or equivalent work experience.
. Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
. Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts.
. Demonstrate basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications. Able to learn company specific applications.
. Administrative and organizational skills.
. Knowledge of applicable environmental statutes and regulations.
. Knowledge of oil and gas industry or other earthmoving industry.
. Able to function in field conditions and inclement weather.
. Must have valid State issued drivers license and be able to travel, including overnight travel, work evenings and weekends as required.
. Any associate who drives a company or personal vehicle for Company business must possess a valid driver licenses and follow all guidelines that are outlined in the Company's Fleet Policy.
