Job Description:
A Major Owner Operator is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Calgary, AB on a one year contract.

KEY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports To:
Project Supervisor: Engineering Lead, Project
EMDC Functional Supervisor: Engineering Dept., Facilities Group, Mechanical Manager
Positions Supervised:
Directly on the Project: None
Functional responsibility: None

The Mechanical Engineer:
Is responsible for broad technical oversight of engineering contractor's mechanical design and piping design, and of equipment suppliers' designs and manufacturing.
Ensures that all affected parties are familiar with execution plans, procedures, objectives, and job requirements.
Advises the contractor's team on design procedures, processes, and deliverables.
Ensures that the contractor and suppliers employ the appropriate design tools, including computer software and hardware.
Ensures that the contractor and suppliers comply with project specifications and standards.
Attends suppliers' shops to reach alignment on design details, to review manufacturing work in progress, and to witness final inspections and tests.
Participates in development of performance test plans and FAT plans.
Facilitates resolution of mechanical design issues, working with company's engineering team, the engineering contractor, and suppliers.
Gains alignment with the engineering lead, and with Operator specialists when required.
Participates as required in design reviews and risk assessments
Ensures that the engineering contractor's work and procedures fulfil contract requirements in the mechanical and piping areas.
Ensures that equipment and supplier's documentation fulfil purchase order and sub-contract requirements in the mechanical area.
Assists with all aspects of mechanical equipment selection, design, installation, commissioning, and start-up planning.
