My client in Kazakhstan is currently in a phase of executing an appraisal well programme (expected 4 wells) and intensive preparation for the next stage of developing the Dunga Field (Phase II Field Development Plan) which will entail drilling of 198 vertical wells over a three year period. This requires a significant step change for the organisation to manage and optimize tenders, standards, procedures and engineering tasks, whilst ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
The Drilling Manager will be a key player in the project team responsible for the execution of the Dunga Phase II development. Drive and mastering of cross functional collaboration is therefore a must.
Responsibilities of the Drilling Manager:
The Drilling Manager will be leading and developing a team of dedicated employees who deals with daily drilling and work-over activities.
Further to the operational activities, the Drilling Manager is responsible for drilling safety, budgeting, well planning and future development plans. The Drilling Department is currently building an extensive knowledge base through the Well Services and Technology Group with the aim of improving well performance and completion lifetime.
It is the overall responsibility of the Drilling Manager to ensure that drilling objectives are clearly defined and detailed budgets being composed. Subsequently, the Drilling Manager must ensure that the set objectives are successfully met within budgeted cost. Defining drilling objectives includes ensuring that new technology is evaluated and implemented when and if beneficial.
Drilling Manager. In light of this objective, an understanding for cultural differences and previous experience in mentoring is considered an advantage.
Background:
The Drilling Manager must have an Engineering degree or other higher technical educational background.
A minimum of 10 - 15 years experience in the oil industry including formal leadership experience is required and main part of this should be within Drilling.
Fluency in both written and spoken English, knowledge of Russian would be an asset.
Personal skills include:ability to interact with other disciplines, motivate people by delegation of tasks and excellent communication and collaboration skills in accordance with our corporate values and leadership priorities.
