Position Summary
The Data Coordinator is an asset based technical data management resource that will work directly with the asset. He/she may work for one or more data owners, eg exploration, developments, geology, geophysics. The role is responsible for carrying out most of the tasks defined by the process owners and required by the data owners, for making sure that data is accurate and readily accessible, and is stored in an effective manner.
The Data Technician:
? Receives all incoming digital and physical data, records, QCs, and publishes them to the designated database using predefined naming standards.
? Will be responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of the data in the Company environment.
? Will also be responsible for the data management training of the team they support, and will facilitate communication of the data in their care to the staff in the team.
? Coordinate all data movements in and out of the asset.
The quality of the data is the main key performance indicator for the Data Coordinator and success in the role will be based on achieving defined and measurable metrics for data management.
The position also involves maintaining the technical integrity of the Asset digital and physical databases.
Responsibilities:
? Coordination of all incoming and outgoing data in Asset
? Day to day data management tasks such as QC of data.
? Any duties delegated from the Data Owner.
? Data Management Induction of new starts
? Provide access to repositories to approved users in timely manner
? Tracking of datasets, including arrival of new data.
? Supporting database and application maintenance.
? Adherence to data standards and processes for well and seismic data
? Management of physical data. Act as a data management related helpdesk for users in the team.
? Make recommendations for improvements to tools and processes.
? Support data sharing in the team.
? Ensures consistency between data owners in the team.
? Define and run data management adherence and quality reports
? Working with Petrotech data management
? Any other duties delegated from the Data Owner
? Planning - Demand forecasting, including disk capacity planning.
? Liaison and Coordination ? a point of communication and assurance on data QC, validation, movements, data repositories and information systems - between users, data suppliers, technology providers.
Qualifications:
? Strong project management skills and experience with Data and Information Projects in the E&P
? People facing skills coupled with excellent communications, and the drive and enthusiasm to work as part of the team.
? Good knowledge of all aspects of petrotechnical data and their use within the exploration business
? IT skills; Linux, relational databases, client-server architectures, experience with PETRA, ARIES and Petrel preferred
? Problem solving ? especially with regards to IT
? Working knowledge of cartography and geodesy
? Working knowledge of Web applications and technologies
? Understanding of data management practices for all petrotechnical data (Seismic, Well logs etc)
? Earth sciences background
? Expertise in use of Geoframe, Petrel, Recall and Seabed.
? Advanced knowledge of well based data types.
? Physical data management expertise.
? Advanced seismic knowledge.
