 Responsibilities :
- The Subsea Systems Engineer will participate in either the Vito, Appomattox and/or Stones project(s)
- This work emphasizes working with the various subsea work package engineers to insure that the integrated subsea system performs per the design expectations with regard to safety, quality, cost and schedule
- Tasks include all facets of project delivery including ensuring that interfaces are properly managed, that cost, schedule, risk management and quality systems are in place and that information is properly captured reported
Staff in the Subsea Projects Group have the following general responsibilities:
- Utilize Shell standard work processes Performance agreements, HSE management process, MOC process, etc
- Interface coordination with other project and work package engineers
- Coordinating the use of external/contract resources to support the engineering activities
- Solicitation and evaluation of Operations input
- Development and maintenance of applicable drawings and engineering design documents
- Shared accountability for cost, schedule, safety and reliability with the other project team members
The job scope includes:
- Provide a systems view and integrate discrete work scope packages into a functioning whole
- Own and deliver key PFAS deliverables as laid out in the PCAP and Discipline Delivery Plan
- Ensure systems deliver on expectations for reliability/availability and operability
- Understand the range of uncertainty from a total system perspective and determine appropriate functionality, operating ranges and flexibility of design to meet project objectives
- Drive behaviours and coach staff towards a "fit for purpose" mindset, promoting TQ performance by proactively identifying opportunities to eliminate and simplify the design and to improve execution efficiency
- Ensure that costs, risks and regrets associated with tradeoffs are made visible to decision maker
- Prepare and steward the project Basis for Design Prepare and coordinate subsea field layout
- Utilize system models (steady-state, transient, and dynamic) to perform system optimization
- Ensure full systems approach to flow assurance, chemical and materials engineering
- Interface management, coordinating and connecting the subsea components/disciplines, as well as subsurface, wells, topsides and operations interfaces
- Create the technical integrity assurance plan and ensure integration of all disciplines into plan
- Implement EPT-P work processes including Opportunity Realization Process,MOC, HSE MS,Technical Assurance Frameworks, etc
- Incorporate HSE and regulatory requirements in operability plans and system design
- Coordinate develop of subsea operating procedures and guidelines, as well as surveillance plans
- Discipline contributions to ORP deliverables such as cost estimates, VARs and Project Execution Plans
- Share learnings and provide technology development input

Requirements :
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer
- Experienced sub-sea, pipeline, process or facilities engineer
- Minimum Bachelors or equivalent degree in Engineering and 20 years industry experience with at least 10 years having been in deep water sub-sea arena
- Strong combination of leadership skills, project delivery skills, experience of building and operating diverse relationships, organizing and managing engineering and technology development functions and understanding the commercial and business objectives and environment in which Shell EP operates
- Ability to deal with substantial uncertainty and multiple, often conflicting, goals and priorities
- Provides clear and decisive leadership in an environment of many competing priorities and diverse activities and issues
- Strong HSE commitment and demonstrated HSE leadership skills
- Proven track record of having successfully delivered or been a key contributor to the delivery of at least three large preferably deep water sub-sea projects (>$500 million)
- Broad awareness and experience with Project Management techniques, tools and practices
- A thorough understanding of the technical issues and risks associated with system design, installation, commissioning, start-up and operation is desired
- Working knowledge of sub-surface disciplines and how uncertainties inherent in the development process affect the identification and selection of surface production concepts is necessary
- Knowledge of key customer and stakeholder needs and business drivers including economic, political, environmental and social issues
- Strategic thinker and pragmatic technician
- High personal energy level and a proven track record in achieving stretching personal and business goals
- Proven team building and people management skills
- Committed to learning, coaching, mentoring and motivating others to be successful
- The ability to organize and carry out hands-on technical work and to lead multi-discipline concept development teams is critical as is, the ability to assess the impact of regulatory and commercial aspects on project decisions and to generate ideas to optimize project commercial and technical decision-making
- Ability to work and manage in a diverse, multi-cultural environment
