Currently, we have several Drilling Engineer opportunities open in the US Gulf of Mexico. Drilling Engineers are accountable for engineering activity covering the planning, program preparation and execution of drilling operations within the wells team.
Success here is dependant on leveraging the collective efforts of some of the most experienced technical drilling experts in the world. Joining us and working with multi-disciplinary teams you will deliver detailed drilling engineering guidance, program preparation, and operational support on new and existing wells.
Key Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for planning and executing well design programs with a strong commitment to HSSE and operational safety while delivering wells.
- Ensure drilling programs, program amendments and dispensations to policy are prepared on schedule and are adequately risk assessed.
- Working closely with resource teams, geologists, production and service company personnel to ensure an efficient operation.
- Prepare cost estimates and cost control for wells activities.
- Monitor and support all phases of the drilling operations, both from the office and onsite (offshore) for key drilling operations.
- Develop downhole equipment specifications for deepwater HTHP wells.
- Ensure that downhole equipment is designed and manufactured to the proper specifications.
- Perform post-analyses for benchmarking and learning, identification and implementation of appropriate new technologies.
- Prepare end of well reports.
- Recommend and lead engineering studies to improve drilling operational performance.
- Implement best practices as identified in operational and engineering studies.
- Ensure appropriate assurance and review of the drilling design and work plan.
- Coach and mentor Drilling Engineers to ensure appropriate technical development.
- Perform and assure adequate third party Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Bachelors degree in relevant engineering discipline.
- Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
- A minimum of 10 years of Drilling Engineering experience, with preferably 2 years of deepwater drilling experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Planning and design skills, cost estimation and risk analysis, operation support to field teams, HSE behaviors, teamwork skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of conducting assurance and review of drilling planning work.
- Knowledge of pore pressure and fracture gradient prediction.
- Experience working with third party service providers.
- Ability to work to timelines with minimum supervision.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Personal commitment and proactive approach to Health, Safety and the Environment.
- Personal commitment and proactive approach to process safety and operational risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- A willingness and ability to travel up to 25% for working at offshore field locals; able to ride in a helicopter or boat over water and be transferred via personnel basket to offshore operations. Ability to work in small, confined places, on high platforms, walk on high elevation grating over water, and walk up and down steps.
