Santos is a leading producer of domestic gas in Western Australia and has had a significant presence in the State's resources sector for more than 20 years. Utilising a wide range of geological techniques, closely integrated with diverse geophysical and specialist subsurface evaluation techniques and expertise, you will be key to the development and maintenance of a sustainable WA & NT exploration portfolio.
Reporting to the Manager Exploration, you will be part of a collaborative team using a play based approach to identify and complete risk assessments of the economic value of hydrocarbon plays, prospects and leads in this area.
You will also be involved in providing geological and geophysical support to mature exploration portfolio opportunities to drillable status, provide operational support during program execution and evaluate post-drill results, including an update of prospectively and uncertainty.
Your thorough understanding of a broad-range of geological and geophysical concepts will allow you to provide mentorship and guidance to developing talent.
With a Bachelor of Science (Geology or Geophysics) degree that is ideally supplemented by post-graduate qualifications, you will have extensive industry experience with basin analysis, petroleum systems and play and prospectivity analysis including prospect generation. Preference will be given to candidates who have also had a strong focus on seismic interpretation. An excellent understanding of resource and risk and uncertainty assessment principals and practices will be critical.
With highly developed communication and presentation skills, you will be comfortable working within a multi-disciplinary team of high performing professionals and key stakeholder to bring new insights to challenging problems. You will be expected to develop strong relationships with partners and competitors and use these to play a key role in driving exploration strategy and growth.
