Job Description:

If you're an experienced Well Engineer, you could help Shell to meet the world's rising demand for energy. Advanced technologies are helping us to successfully unlock new energy resources and efficiently develop existing oil and gas fields. This is your chance to be part of a skilled and dedicated team that's leading the way.

Your challenge, as a Well Engineer, will be to prepare well designs and detailed programmes according to design proposals that you'll have helped to create. The key is to optimise well quality and cost efficiency, as well as Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) considerations. In fact, you'll continually strive to improve HSSE performance by influencing well design and by working with the well site team responsible for executing well operations. In some cases you may be required to spend time at the well site, directly supporting field staff and ensuring operations comply with company procedures, policies and guidelines. This means working in a diverse team with people from other cultures and supervising contractors. You'll use your strong interpersonal skills to set a good example, communicate with authority and uphold safety standards - all while striking a balance between delegation and a hands-on approach.

In addition to the minimum of a diploma or preferably a degree (or equivalent) in a technical or engineering subject, you should have well engineering experience that includes well design. Ideally you'll have worked on both land and offshore wells, and on concurrent drilling and production operations. You'll have gained your experience working both as a Drilling Supervisor in the field and as an office-based Well Engineer. With this background, you'll be capable of dealing with any well engineering-related task that comes up and using well engineering software packages.

Join us and you'll be supported to follow the Shell Group "Round 2" Distance Learning Programme with the aim of obtaining this qualification within two years.

At Shell you'll not only progress your career, but play an important role in an innovative company that offers excellent rewards and benefits. To find out more, visit our website www.shell.com/careers/wells
