Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting online applications for the position of Pore Pressure and Stress Specialist/Modeler will play an integral role within the Rock Mechanics Analysis (RMA) team in Houston, Texas.
This position provides support to the well construction functions of business units across Chevron. This includes supporting BU projects and workflows spanning New Ventures / Business Development opportunities to development and sanctioning of Major Capital Projects as well as supporting other various ETC D&C and Earth Science activities.
Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Analyzing petrophysical well logs and drilling behavior to develop pore pressure and stress interpretations.
Developing sub-regional calibrations and geologic horizon based correlations.
Constructing sub-regional 2D and 3D pore pressure and stress models from seismic velocity models, and/or geologic horizons.
Calibrating to well logs and drilling behavior if available.
Contributions to a broad range of ongoing strategic research (SR) and technical development (TD) programs within the team covering aspects of pore pressure, wellbore stability, completion design and fracture mechanics is also expected.
Managing Technology Development (TD-111) project to advance pore pressure workflows. Interact with other TD and SR projects requiring pore pressure support.
Provides timely TS fit-for-purpose pore pressure and stress interpretations and to champion the synergy and integration of these workflows with other BU and ETC workflows.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Master's degree in Earth Science related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of Oil & Gas experience with a basic understanding of well design and drilling procedures.
Basic understanding of petrophysical log acquisition and interpretation techniques.
Demonstrated ability to clearly convey concepts and objectives orally; in presentations and in technical reports; both with all internal company stakeholders as well as externally with a particular emphasis on those stakeholders working within the drilling function.
Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and ability to work effectively and collaboratively in multi-discipline, multi-cultural environment; expectation and willingness to be mentored by senior subject matter experts (SME's) in pore pressure, rock mechanics and wellbore stability.
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or Ph.D. in Earth Science related field.
Experience directly participating in or supporting the drilling function.
Experience interpreting pore pressure.
Experience using GEOLOG petrophysical characterization system is a plus.
Basic understanding of geophysics, seismic acquisition and velocity analysis.
Experience building, interpreting and maintaining various types of (earth) models.
Numerical coding skills.
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
Expatriate assignments will be considered.
