Overview:
Chevron's Asia South Business Unit is accepting online applications for a Drilling Advisor to be responsible for partnering with the Drilling Project Manager Advisor in optimizing well results for evaluation of shale gas potential in the project area. This position is for an experienced Drilling Engineer with well design, construction & facilities experience who can advise & guide Sinopec operations and lead the team efforts in well design, completion, stimulation, testing, reserves/resource assessments and performance predictions. The person chosen for this position will also participate in building an appraisal plan to further characterize the reservoir and generate alternatives to maximize project value.
This position is a resident assignment to Nanjing, China which is located in Jiangsu Province and is situated in one of the largest economic zones of China, the Yangtze River Delta. The city is 300 kilometers northwest of Shanghai. The city has a humid subtropical climate and is under the influence of the East Asia Monsoon. The four seasons are distinct here, with damp conditions seen throughout the year, very hot and muggy summers, cold, damp winters, and in between, spring and autumn are of reasonable length. Typhoons are uncommon but possible in the late stages of summer and early part of autumn. The annual mean temperature is around 15.5 °C (59.9 °F), with monthly mean values ranging from 2.4 to 27.8 °C (36.3 to 82 °F). On average precipitation falls 115 days out of the year, and the average annual rainfall is 1,062 millimetres (42 in).

Required Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
Minimum of 10 years relevent experience
Proven knowledge of well design engineering, pore pressure & fracture gradient prediction & rock mechanics, surge-swab-ballooning-lost circulation management, directional well planning, time and cost estimating, performance improvement process (i.e. tech limits etc), Standard Operating Procedure development & MOC management of same, Category Management (contractor performance management) and preparation of drilling programs. Exposure to unconventional shale drilling and completion operations is a plus.
Candidate must work well with others in a mutli-functional & multi-cultural team environment. Able to conduct oneself professionally with Asset Teams, partners and government representatives. Challenges but challenges professionally. Ability to coordinate a multitude of contractors and equipment in a very remote environment. Practices open, honest, multidirectional & effective communication. Contributes to building an inclusive work environment. Proactively & effectively mentors early career employees.
Proven ability to develop detailed quality drilling & completion procedures & SOPs which are thoroughly risk assessed with Tenets honoring confirmation, with clarity & with contingency plans. Looks back regularly & incorporate Lesson Learned. Develops quality site specific SIMOPS Plans.

Candidate must be willing and able to relocate to Nanjing, China for this assignment.
