2nd Mate

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Successfully work with the Captain to maintain the exterior of the ship and oversee deck crew to the highest industry standard.  Work closely with Captain in terms of watch standing, safety and deck organization, in order to achieve an outstanding experience for owners, scientists and guests concluding every trip with a high level of success.  

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Captain with navigating the vessel in a safe and professional manner
• Manage and direct a deck crew, working together as a well maintained team
• Ensure crew are well versed and practiced in dive operations
• Plan and prioritize work for in the deck department with the highest regard for safety
• Maintain inventories and deck supplies

License Requirements

• 2nd Mate Unlimited license issued by the United State Coast Guard or other license that meets the vessels tonnage
• DP Certificate
• Valid seaman's book
• Vanuatu Endorsement
• STCW-95 Basic Training
• MMC
• Valid US Passport
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Safe Gulf / Rig Pass Training
