Job Summary

With 40 years experience working in both the offshore and onshore oil and gas sectors, Atkins has acquired unrivalled experience in safety & reliability consulting which permits the effective execution of practical engineering and support solutions in oil and gas upstream and downstream processing.

In line with our strategy to continue to grow our global footprint in Oil and Gas, we are looking for a high quality individual to fill our Technical Director of Safety & Reliability position.  This is a newly created position within our organization, and will be a key role in supporting the continued expansion of our global oil & gas business.  

The key objectives of this role are:

Establish Atkins safety and reliability engineering capabilities as best in class and ensure that Atkins continues to lead the industry in terms of technical excellence in the field.
Deliver consistent technical methodologies and processes throughout our global safety & reliability engineering operations.
Assure competency of our global safety & reliability engineering staff through strategic recruitment of key individuals, training programs for existing staff and internal inter-office transfers of staff with key technical skills.
Build the profile and reputation of Atkins safety & reliability engineering capabilities in the global oil & gas industry.
Develop and deliver a technology plan that will keep the Atkins safety & reliability engineering offering at the forefront of the industry.
Strong interaction with our clients to ensure we understand their present and future needs.
Establish strong relationships with the appropriate senior technical staff in our key clients
Business development of safety & reliability engineering in the global regions identified as strategic by Atkins    
Identify and act on opportunities arising that would benefit the wider Atkins Group

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer of equivalent (e.g. Chartered Engineer)
Significant years of engineering related experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry
Advanced technical skills in the technical safety assessment and risk analysis fields
Solid foundation in understanding the requirements of major global oil & gas developments
Strong client relationship management skills
Have good knowledge and be able to promote new and/or existing oil & gas technologies
Able to identify and follow through on leads associated with new and existing clients
Self-motivated and persistent
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A co-operative and helpful attitude to colleagues
Reliable, consistent and mature approach to work
Able to work in a team environment
Understanding of cultural differences associated with operating in a global industry

Additional Information

The position will be responsible to the Atkins Oil & Gas Board
There will be requirement for you to travel to other company/client sites (both locally and internationally)
