Job Description:

Our client, one of the major global energy companies, is looking for a principal acquisition geophysicist. Responsibilities:

Exploration R&D is investing in developing next generation onshore and offshore seismic acquisition systems in order to substantially reduce the survey costs and cycle times whilst improving data quality. We have setup collaborations with external technology partners to develop innovative cost-effective, high performance, and highly scalable systems
• Innovative acquisition designs to take advantage of these new systems must be actively pursued in order to maximize their value potential, besides leveraging state of art seismic acquisition technologies/designs by the industry
• The primary role of this position is to provide technical leadership in driving and supporting these key hardware development projects from the company side as well as leading the development of novel acquisition design and new seismic sources
• Collaborate with partners on the design and maturation of the system and its components to deliver the required performance to deliver an innovative game-changing product
• Ensure rapid and effective definition of technical requirements and that our performance requirements are reflected in the design
• Ensuring the project risks are properly prioritized, sequenced and managed
• Coordinate, plan, prepare for and execute field trials and pilots
• Provide competitive landscape and market trend to ensure the enduring competitiveness of the new system by keeping abreast of competitor, industry, and academic developments in this field
• Lead development of novel acquisition designs onshore and offshore, especially taking advance of the next generation systems we are developing as well as the novel systems by the industry players
• Lead framing and development of new acquisition technology concepts such as new seismic sources

Requirements:

• This position requires proven technical abilities in seismic acquisition systems, survey design and operations as well as project management skill and some business acumen
• This position requires an advanced degree in geosciences, physics, electrical engineering or related field
• Acquisition geophysicist with broad strong experience and track record of 15 years in seismic acquisition system development, survey design and operation in onshore and offshore environments
• Strong knowledge of various seismic acquisition system hardware/engineering design with a good industry network
• Electrical engineering background will be a plus
• Proven ability to work with diverse, multi-discipline and global work groups to deliver or achieve targets
• Good project management skill with some business acumen
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills to manage numerous stakeholders and work effectively across organization boundaries, and enable rapid and effective deployment of technologies in the businesses including joint ventures
• A genuine belief in and respect for people where diversity and differences are seen as opportunities for enhancing company performance
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
