Axon Pressure Products is a leading supplier of products, systems and services for onshore and offshore drilling and production with a 30-year history in the oil and gas industry. From system design to individual products to technical support, we offer a wide range of drilling products, control products and pressure control products for both surface and subsea applications. Repair and refurbishment services are also available, as well as a broad range of replacement parts, where a dedicated team is ready to answer questions and offer real solutions. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our team.
Mechanical Designer
Responsibilities:
• Review requirements or instructions to design and develop new components or redesign existing components to improve company products.
• Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
• Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors.
• Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations that affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
• Confer with engineering and research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop design.
• Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layout, material lists and detailed drawings and schematics.
• Prepare estimates of development costs.
• Direct and coordinate manufacturing and testing of prototype product or system.
• Compile and analyze operational, test and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment or product.
• Plan and develop experimental test programs.
• Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Confer with research and other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required.
• Evaluate engineering test results for possible application to developments of systems or other uses.
• Maintain a working knowledge of new developments, techniques and products in the industry.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years experience in oil & gas industry. Experience in lieu of degree is acceptable. Associate technical degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
• Ability to work in a team environment on short and long term projects.
• Must possess effective communication skills, both written and oral.
