Our Client, a Major Owner Operator is currently seeking a Lab Contractor to be based in Calgary, Alberta.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Preference given to candidates who have experience with oil sands solids sample preparation for Particle Size Distribution (PSD) analyses and analyses by Laser Diffraction
Demonstrated Computer skills (word, excel)
Demonstrated Lab Skills
Preference to candidates who have above skills as well as other experience within oil and gas analytical testing laboratory (ASTM hydrocarbon testing such as ash, viscosity, asphaltene; distillation, etc.)
PRINCIPAL TASKS:
Manual disaggregation (with mortar and pestle) of oil sand solids, preparing subsamples (using riffler) for subsequent Particle Size Distribution (PSD) analyses. May operate Laser Diffraction Instrument to determine particle size distribution. Some light lifting (< 20Kg) may be required.
Other ad-hoc lab assistance as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Diploma in Chemical Technology (SAIT), BSc (Chem.)
or similar and/or equivalent experience
EXTERNAL SAFETY TRAINING PREREQUISITES:
WHMIS
Health surveillance test indicating fit to work (able to wear a half-mask respirator when required)
