Responsibilities:
Electrical Systems Engineer responsible for supporting/leading the development and execution of electrical and electrical systems work for Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas projects. Process and applications knowledge will be used for work associated with Crude and Natural Gas Pipelines, Compressor Stations, FPSO, Offshore Drilling and Production, Electrical Generation, and similar projects.
This position requires strong knowledge of industry standards for International and USA as applied on Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas projects. Typical applications will require knowledge of HV, MV and LV electrical equipment, ETAP based electrical power system analysis, integration to automation and PLC systems, prefabricated equipment shelters, and variable speed drives.
Leads or participates in the development and design of complex systems that integrate hardware and software for electrical and power control systems. Develops the material specifications, schematics, system functional design, and monitors or participates in the fabrication and testing of the system. Guiding the technical interface and knowledge transfer for the processes and products used in the cross functional system design with other departments.
Develops and recommends productivity improvements, cost reductions, and increases of customer satisfaction. Identifies and resolves very complex problems and applies these problem-solving skills in order to satisfy customer requirements.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates and applies critical thinking and a broad knowledge of engineering through successful completion of complex assignments. Demonstrates sound knowledge of an engineering organization's normal business practices and daily challenges. Typically 8-10 years of successful experience in directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge. Professional Engineer License and Spanish language skills will discussed at the interview.
- Produce electrical assembly, manufacturing, arrangement drawings and material lists for rotating machinery package systems.
- Experience of high voltage generators and their associated control and protection systems
- Experience of high voltage motors and drives
- Experience of gas-turbine systems, turbo-compressors and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Interface with fluid systems, mechanical, and control system design activities.
- Ensure that all designs are compliant with US and State codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of IEC and European standards an advantage.
- Coordinate with sub-contracted engineering services and other electrical engineers and CAD personnel.
- Review and selection of equipment suppliers.
- Approval of supplier's designs.
- Technical support during manufacture, testing and commissioning at site.
- Technical support of sales and applications.
Key Working Relationships:
Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external customer and supplier contacts. Will work in diverse internal teams and must demonstrate good teamwork and communication skills. Will be expected to develop and maintain excellent client working relationships, and be a role model to the team when performing leadership responsibilities.
