The Sr. Engineer is expected to utilize his/her expertise in the area of process design and analysis to deliver quality projects. These projects focus on process safety management with particular emphasis on the area of pressure relief systems. Candidate will determine the limitations and capabilities of process units and their pressure relief systems and recommend actions or mitigation plans.
The Sr. Engineer will work with a team of process engineers under the direction of a Project Manager to deliver projects of a consistently high quality to our domestic and international customers. The Sr. Engineer will work directly with end users on technical aspects of the projects and therefore must be able to communicate technical requirements and deliverables clearly and concisely.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in process system design and analysis. Experience in the area of upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas processes including refining is a plus. Proven experience in common refinery and chemical processes is also desirable. Desired experience includes pressure relief device sizing, relief header and flare analysis, risk mitigation etc.
The Sr. Process Engineers expected to be proficient in the following tasks:
• Performs engineering calculations associated with pressure relief system design/analysis with emphasis placed on quality of work product & work efficiency.
• Identifies overpressure scenarios for various types of process equipment.
• Calculates relief loads for various types of overpressure scenarios.
• Evaluates pressure relief device capacities.
• Utilizes process simulation tools.
• Performs relief header & flare analysis.
• Presents results to clients.
• Mentors less-experienced personnel about overpressure concepts.
• Performs quality checks for less-experienced personnel.
• Participates in overpressure concepts training for the less-experienced personnel & clients. Performs reactive system &/or rate-dependent analysis.
• Provides new design specification &/or action plan preparation after receiving process hazard concerns from clients, so that the clients can operate in compliance with the regulations.
• Develops overpressure simulations or heat & material balances using process simulation tools.
• Interprets data from piping & instrument diagrams, process flow diagrams, plot plans, piping isometrics, mechanical design information, typical unit operation specifications, & electrical one-line diagram.
• Collects mechanical design information & typical unit operation specifications as well as develops piping drawings from client site.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Four plus years of experience in an alternate occupation or any suitable combination of education, training, and experience.
