* To ensure that all well operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with HS&E Policy
* To be familiar with the contents of the Safety Management System, Emergency Response Procedures, project Interface Document, and Oil Spill Contingency Plan

* To be involved in / lead all well related incident / accident investigations ensuring accurate and timely reporting through the correct channels to onshore management (day)

* To ensure all well operations are conducted in accordance with the approved Programme and in compliance with Safety Management System and Wells Management System

* To supervise the management of all well related events and to inform the Well Construction Superintendent at an early stage of development of a situation to ensure that appropriate expertise is employed in it's resolution
* To manage the logistics of the drilling operation in an efficient manner
* To ensure the drilling contractor and service companies are fully briefed as to the forward programme
* To prepare written instructions to supplement the approved programme
* To supervise the Offshore Drilling Engineer, ensure his tasks and responsibilities are clearly defined and that reports are accurate
* To be familiar with the approved programme, and use this to ensure that critical operations are adequately supervised and that potential problems are identified and contingency plans in place
* To ensure all tools and drill string components that are right are fit for purpose and compatible with the well and other components. The Drilling Supervisor should be familiar with and understand the operation of all tools and equipment run through the rotary table and is responsible for ensuring correct operating procedures are followed
* To minimise rig downtime and optimise drilling performance. Rig downtime is to be analysed at site
* When working on a platform to liase with other departments to minimise conflicts with other operations, (production, maintenance etc.), to ensure that drilling priorities are promoted and that the implications of delays are understood by the platform OIM
* To ensure contractual compliance at the wellsite by the Service Companies
* To track well costs on a daily basis using the Cost Tracking System offshore and report them on the Daily Drilling report

* Extensive offshore experience in position required
* Aware of North Searegulatory requirements
* Well Control Certificate
* Recent North Sea experience
* Degree or equivalent in engineering or related discipline
* Good inter-personal skills to manage all rig site personal in an effective manner
* Ideally operational experience of jack up/semi and platform operations including drilling all section sizes, casing, liner and cementing operations, e-line logging, wireline and well testing
