Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of Senior Exploration Earth Scientist, located in Houston, Texas.
The successful candidate will serve as a exploration geologist/geophysicist in the Deepwater Business Unit's Exploration team, maturing prospects for the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico (DW GOM) exploration portfolio.
Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Work as part of a multi-functional team including members of the Exploration, Geophysics, Appraisal, Drilling, and Geological and Geophysicsl (G&G) Operations teams.
Provide responsibility for maturing prospects to drill primarily focused on subsalt exploration prospects.
Provide technical assessment of risk and reserve potential of prospects (primary objective).
Required Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in an Earth Science related discipline. A Bachelor's Degree with adequate relevant industry experience may be considered.
A minimum of 10 years of related experience in the oil/gas industry.
Experienced prospect generator in exploration programs.
Knowledge of processes/methodologies utilized in regional to prospect level evaluation, play and petroleum system analysis, prospect generation and recommendation, exploration and delineation well planning and drilling, and post drill integration.
Familiar with the formulation and implementation of work plans to address geological uncertainty and mature leads and prospects through the risk analysis process including 1) Volumetric determination and geological risking and ranking. 2) Documenting interpretation approach, methodology, results, observations and insights from the effort.
Strong fundamental earth science skillset, with expertise in 3D seismic interpretation.
Demonstrated ability to clearly convey concepts and objectives verbally; in presentations and in technical reports.
Demonstrated ability to utilize project management and decision analysis tools and processes to frame and manage exploration projects through phase gates to drill.
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico prospect generation preferred.
Experience with salt-related plays and complex DW depositional systems.
Knowledge of Gocad, depth imaging and velocity modeling.

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
