Lead the development and implementation of the Continuous Quality Improvement process, and the Quality Management System throughout Oceaneering International Inc. The program will be based upon the needs of the operation, sound quality concepts and incorporate the principles of Oceaneering Continuous Quality Improvement and Leading High Performance Teams processes.
This position provides process management, CQI and QMS support to Oceaneering's worldwide operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain, lead and improve the CQI & QMS processes: 1) identify the top areas for improvement and recommend CQI teams to Sr. Mgt, 2) establish a method of quantifying waste and improvement, 3) ensure CQI teams are designed and managed in accordance with Leading High Performance Teams and Advanced CI concepts.
Develop CQI/QMS performance metrics, such as the cost of poor quality and measure performance on a regular basis.
Ensure the CQI/QMS process is understood and communicated to all levels of mgt, from Sr. Executives to Shop floor personnel.
Provide technical support to CQI teams, monitor teams, trouble shoot teams.
Conduct onsite assessments to assess existing systems and recommend improvements to Sr. Mgt.
Lead, advice and consult with Continuous Quality Improvement Teams to ensure the process is meeting the intended goals.
Support the operation by ensuring Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Management principles and associated concepts are integrated into the servicing and manufacturing process.
Ensure the CQI/QMS process can serve as a resource to operations management by providing results which add value to the customers' perception of the products and services offered by the Oceaneering International Inc. This will improve operations productivity, reduce operations or product/service costs, or decrease operations risks.
Evaluate the QA processes of the operating groups and determine the appropriate level of integration with the Continuous Quality Improvement Process.
Provide consultative and subject matter expertise to company wide CQI & QA personnel, as required, to evaluate their CQI & QA processes and key initiatives
Evaluate the QA/ISO processes of the operating groups to ensure value is obtained while meeting client and local requirements.
Develop and maintain the Company's continuous quality improvement program and quality management system, including performance assessment, benchmarking, uniform performance measurements, visual management and control system requirements, management of the improvement process and all activities related to achieving the Company objects.
Incorporate various tools, such as Lean manufacturing, DMAIC, within the continuous quality improvement system and quality management system.
Ensure a consistent vocabulary of CQI QMS terminology is utilized and understood throughout the company.
Develop and conduct various training programs which are designed to assist in the implementation of the company's CQI vision and Quality Management System, i.e., Continuous improvement, Advanced Continuous improvement, Leading High Performance Teams, Process mapping, practical application of ISO 9001, skills for effective facilitators, train ISO auditors to include value added CI concepts.
Coach, advice, assist and trouble shoot CQI team and processes.
Facilitate and lead, as assigned, large performance improvement projects; includes projects designed to support the goals of individual operating units, cross-functional departments and corporate level improvement projects that advance the goal of eliminating waste.
Establish a process to ensure key CQI teams are equipped with the appropriate resources such as trained facilitators.
Ensure the CQI process is aligned with the goals and strategy of the corporation.
Overseas travel required on frequent basis.
Become a Lead instructor for Leading High Performance Teams
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college with a degree in Engineering, Business or Project Management is preferred. Leadership experience of 5 to 10 years in Continuous Improvement, Quality Management, operations, engineering or quality role desired with demonstrated success in process improvement and performance management techniques.
Experience with Continuous Improvement and Quality concepts, i.e. Lean Six Sigma system tools, Master Black Belt, Lean Master or Black Belt. Demonstrated success in project implementation and sustaining results. Demonstrated skills as a change agent, risk taker and innovative thinker in a team based environment a must. Significant exposure to servicing and manufacturing desirable including inspection and testing, design engineering, product qualification, and production operations.
Directly supervises 2 CQI Advisors
Experience and success in international environments and cultures desirable. Experience in strategy deployment, Management by objectives, culture change initiatives, change management and organizational development concepts a plus.
